Highlights of the 2024 Annual General Meeting
May 1, 2025 - Dow Centennial Centre
These are the Grantees who gave reports on how donated funds were used within their respective organization.
Twice But Nice (TBN) held their Annual Meeting on May 1, at the DCC where they shared their 2024 Financials and Achievements, 2025 Goals, recognized retiring Director, had special greetings from Mayor Katchur and heard from their Grantees.
President, Judy Rehill stated, “I am ecstatic to share that during 2024 we granted $39,914.29 to 16 organizations for 18 projects. This exceeds 2023 grants by approximately $10,000.00, and the 2023 grants exceeded the previous years’ grants by close to $7,000. This demonstrates continued growth in sales revenue directly represents our ability to grant more to the community.”
In addition to the grants Twice But Nice kept about 46 tonnes out the landfill through their downlining program (excludes inventory sold in the store); logged 3,106 volunteer hours that total $46,590 in wages; and experienced an 11% increase over 2023 in donations of clothing and household items. 2024 also saw the continuation of completed capital projects, including modification of the cash area, renovation of the work room/staff kitchen and replacement of their very old 2002 Ford Ranger truck.
Judy shared a sneak peek at 2025, stating capital projects include improving workstations, renovating the toy area of the store, changing out of old shelving in the work room and lower level, improving exterior lighting, purchasing and installing a washer and dryer, and continuing with painting in the sales room as needed.
“We also have some aggressive Board targets for 2025 which include updating our Bylaws, holding a Board Strategic Planning Workshop, developing a Procurement Policy, and continuing to implement the TBN 40th Anniversary plans throughout 2025,” added Judy.
Retiring Board member Alicia Desaulniers – Assistant Treasurer was recognized for her years of service. The Financial Statements Jay Hur Professional Corporation indicated the society is in excellent financial health, especially considering the number of Capital Projects completed over the last several years.
Treasurer Gail Zabolotny stated, “The store had a good year, with sales up over 2% over the previous year. I also want to point out that our sales in 2024 were 60% higher than sales in 2021.”
Store Manager, Carmen Randell presented the Store Report – highlighting the 2024 achievement of store goals, “We took major strides in strengthening our internal operations and ensuring safety remained at the forefront and completed and External Safety Audit. Through our Donations in Kind program, we proudly donated $5,847 worth of inventory directly to families in need. In addition, we launched a brand-new Board initiative: our Inventory in Kind program. This program is designed to support other programs that are in need of items to fulfill their own missions. We also made big waves through social media! We expanded our presence by launching a brand new TikTok page, while continuing to engage our community on Facebook and Instagram.”
“Throughout the year we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary of our operation here in our city. We take great pride in our humble roots and the success our non profit store has had – especially the over one million dollars we have been able to give back. We are proud of our achievements in 2024 and goals for 2025 and we realize that we are only able to do these things because of the wonderful staff and volunteers that work for Twice But Nice. And of course, none of this is possible without the community’s continued generous donations and patronage of the store,” concluded Judy.
